BUILDING ON OUR VOICES - ADVANCING INDIGENOUS LED-CHANGE
Building on the foundation established at our 2026 Summit, we continue the national conversation through key areas of Indigenous Child and Family Services. Our focus is on policy, lived experiences, innovative approaches, and practical solutions that strengthen children, families, and communities
Our 2027 Presentation Focus
Building on the conversations and knowledge shared during the inaugural 2026 Nipikiskwasiwan National Summit, our 2027 gathering will focus on four interconnected areas of Indigenous Child and Family Services.
We invite presentations that examine policy and legislative developments, explore complex challenges facing Indigenous youth, highlight successful family preservation initiatives, and strengthen frontline professional practice and service delivery.
Our goal is to bring together Indigenous leadership, research, community knowledge, lived experience, and practical innovations to explore what is working, identify persistent service gaps, and advance meaningful solutions.
We are particularly interested in presentations that demonstrate real-world experiences, successful Indigenous-led approaches, lessons learned, and practical strategies that other Nations, agencies, and communities can adapt and implement.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS
Addictions Mental Health & Healing
Exploring Indigenous-led approaches to addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery that strengthen families, support vulnerable youth, and reduce the number of children entering care
Strengthening The Frontline Workforce & Service Delivery
Building professional capacity, culturally grounded practice, and stronger systems of care
Indigenous Jurisdiction, Policy & Self-Determination
Advancing indigenous-led governance, legislative implementation, policy, development and accountability.
At-Risk Youth & Complex Needs
Exploring specialized care, service gaps, and culturally grounded responses for Indigenous youth with complex needs.
Family Preservation, Prevention & Reunification
Strengthening indigenous families through prevention, cultural continuity, kinship care, and reunification.
Share Your Knowledge. Inspire Change.
We welcome presenters who bring policy perspectives, lived experiences, Indigenous-led innovations, research, and practical solutions to these four areas of discussion.
